Sun, 18 Oct 2009

Attends, showcased the technology of the new micropad product range, at the Royal College of Nursing Continence Care Forum annual conference in October.

Attends has invested over ten million pounds and several years of evaluation and research in the development of its new micro-pads which are significantly smaller yet offer better absorbency than traditional large shaped pads.

The Soft Micro-pad range is  set to be a huge success for Attends as they are upto 50% smaller than traditional products, significantly easier to fit and apply, more discreet for the end user, drier and more comfortable to wear.

In addition, they are more environmentally-friendly thanks to the smaller size consuming less raw materials in the production and requiring less transportation, resulting in a positive environmental impact

The company invested in state-of-the-art technology to develop the new range, which uses new production techniques adapted from the car industry to increase efficiency.

Speaking about the new products, chief executive of Attends Healthcare Group, James Steele, said: “We believe that this range is a real breakthrough for the industry as our micro-pads are small but offer huge absorbency. The new product will better meet patient needs as it is drier, smaller and more comfortable.

“In addition, it will also prove more cost-effective and be environmentally-friendly thanks to methods used in production to deliver a smaller size. This new soft and discreet range will offer very real cost-improvements despite the prevailing economic environment.”

Incontinence and bladder-related problems have become more common than asthma, diabetes and epilepsy put together and there are many causes and types of bladder dysfunction which affect around 14 million people of all ages in the UK alone.

Attends works not only with individual sufferers to discuss their specific needs but also with healthcare professionals, care home staff and organisations, such as the NHS, ACA and Promocon. For more information on the Attends please see www.attends.co.uk
